Our Nighttime Cloth Diaper Routine
I discuss what we have tried for nighttime with our 12-week old baby and what actually works for us: Rules for nighttime diapering: 1. the stay-dry layer needs to either sit atop microfiber or it needs to be doubled up. If it sits directly against natural fiber, it will become wet more quickly. Generally if the natural insert is inside of a pocket, the fact that the stay-dry layer is not directly on top of the natural fiber will usually allow the stay-dry layer to stay dry. 2.Use bamboo or Hemp- they give you a lot more absorption for the thickness of the material than microfiber. If you use Hemp or bamboo behind a microfiber insert, they will catch any liquid squished out during compression. 3. Check for gaps at the leg and the waist of the diaper- over-stuffing diapers can lead to leaking because it pulls the cover away from the baby's skin (this is what the Best Bottoms overnight microfiber insert with a stay-dry insert did). 4. Make sure the diaper is not too tight or it will leak. What we tried: 1. Fuzzibunz with all sorts of inserts- none of which worked because FB's don't fit our daughter correctly. 2. Best Bottoms with the microfiber overnight insert (the only overnight insert they use to offer- now they offer more, even the hemp one that I was wishing they would offer!) and a microfiber/microfleece "normal" insert. 3. Best Bottoms with a Hemp insert, a blueberry bamboo doubler and 2 layers of Bummis microfleece liners.- works great but complcated 4. Best Bottoms ...

How to sew a cloth diaper
So I decided to make a butt load of cloth diapers. I already purchased some really nice ones but decided to save money and make my own. My mom and I are the process of making our own pattern and perhaps selling them among other baby items. We'll see... If you notice different patterned fabric in this video it is because I was making a ton of diapers with different fabric, so no, it's not a mean trick lol!! So if you have any questions--because I know how confusing I can be--please ask. I will be happy to direct you : ) The pattern I purchased and used in this video is online: www.darlingdiapers.com
